Well...my Chenille bedspread came yesterday, and it is awful! I really hate it. It was a really expensive spread, and it was yucky. I remember chenille bedspreads, and they were much nicer way back when. This was a high end one, so I know I'm not going to find something I like.

So...I'm going a totally different direction. I'm so glad that I didn't buy anything else for the room!

Anyway...just thought I'd share, since I shared my big idea to begin with!

I'm sorry you were disapointed. I was looking forward to seeing the finished room. I hope you find something you like soon.

I was looking forward to seeing your new room too. I am sorry to hear about your disappointment.
Have you checked at garnethill.com or the chenille blankets put out by Pinecone Hill (sold at lavenderfieldsonline.com among others)? or maybe a "grown-up" Kit could have a Mattelasse coverlet ?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's why I buy all mine on eBay or at stores that sell vintage. I have a bit of a chenille bedspread fetish. They're probably terrible for my dust mite allergy, but I CANNOT stop using them.

ETA: Ironically enough, I do have one new spread that I received as a gift. It's super fluffy and soft and came from K-Mart, of all places. It sheds like it's going out of style, though.

Kitchy...my problem is I just can't use a vintage bedspread! It just weirds me out.

I know MIL has some that she's kept through the years, but they're gold and tan and colors I don't want.

(She's still got her PINK kitchen stove and fridge, and I would give her my new Maytag stove and fridge if she'd just trade! She hates them, but FIL won't let them go, as he says they'll likely outlast my new stuff! LOL!!! They're pushing 40 years old, and are totally cool.)

I'm going with DH's suggestion and going with a barn red and yellow quilt, and painting the walls pale yellow, and the iron bed barn red. I'm going to go out to the Amish, and buy some hand loomed rugs in those colors. It will be pretty, but not my Kit room!

My kitchen is retro 30's-40's, and my dinning room and living room have that Victorian/Cottage flair. I really like bold decorating. I have lots of color in this house. The "Man Room" is currently under consturction, and will sport a few deer heads, some Packer stuff, Pine floors, and lots of other Man stuff. So you can see why I need to keep my areas feminine! LOL!!!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hah! Now I know your weakness. If you ever get a cool chenille bedspread, I'm going to come over and roll all over it. Hopefully, this will skeeve you out, and I'll get to take it home with me.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ah, yes. We currently have a "Man Room" under construction. Only ours will have a Broncos theme. Until then, Bob the deer head is residing in the guest bedroom, of all places. I think it's payback for my Pepto-pink dining room.

My husband will be standing there asking me, " Who the heck is that lady, and why is she rolling all over our bed?" I can just see the look on his face!

I'll have to ask my guys what their deer heads are named. We will have two new ones yet this spring, from last fall's deer hunt. I'm sooo excited. I love heaving the heads of dead animals in my house!

I keep trying to "direct" my boys in their decorating sceme of the "Man Room". It's not working.

editing to say...I stopped today at the shop where I sell my jewelry. It's an antique shop, and they had this really cool barn red table in there. It has a drawer, cupboard door, and it has a distressed black top. It's probably from the 40's. I stood there looking at it for the longest time thinking, " Gee...I love that table! I just don't know where I could put it in my house." I was home at least two hours before I realized that it would be a killer night table in our bedroom.

Now I know I'm old...seriously old.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I named ours. That was one of my conditions for letting Bob in our house. The other is that I get to adorn him with funny hats whenever the whim strikes me. He was "Santa" Bob for Christmas.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">DH flat-out told me that I wasn't allowed to decorate the basement, which is our "Man Room." I think the pink dining room scared him off.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Well, go back and git it, woman! I learned my lesson the hard way when I passed up a pristine 1960's refrigerator, only to find it sold when I went back for it. **sniffs** It was so minty...like it had just stepped off the showroom floor. I'm going to call and have them mark it sold for me. I kind of want to see my quilt, though before I buy the table...

I have weird taste compared to most people, so it will likely still be there.

Poor Bob....does he get any say in what you make him wear?

I went to someone's house one time to buy a pony. We went inside to do the paperwork, and she had lots of exotic game mounts on her walls. I was looking at them, and noticed a horse head! I almost died. DD was ten or so, and she started giggling...poor thing. We still laugh over that one to this day. It was the lady's fav. horse, so she mounted it's head when it died!!!! <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No, but he rather enjoys the attention. At least, I think he does.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It could be worse. DH loves our dog, so he sometimes talks about having him stuffed when he bites the big one. I'm hoping he's kidding.
